Meet our Board of Directors. The Grange Mutual Casualty Company Board of Directors helps us make decisions that support the strength and integrity of our company. David C. Wetmore Chairman of the Board Our current chairman of the board, David C. Wetmore, has served on the Grange Mutual Casualty Company Board of Directors since 1991. David was the managing director of Updata Capital, Inc., from 1995 until he retired. His previous roles include chief operating officer and director of Legent Corporation, and CEO and chairman of Goal Systems International. David is a CPA and worked with KPMG for 17 years—10 years as a partner and his last five years as a managing partner. John Ammendola Director John Ammendola serves as president and CEO of Grange Insurance, a position he has held since 2015. John began his career with Grange as president of Personal Lines, later becoming chief property and casualty officer. He previously served as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Kemper Insurance Company and held several leadership positions with Safeco Insurance Company. John started his insurance career with GEICO, where he ultimately served as assistant vice president of the mid-Atlantic region. Mark L. Boxer Director Dr. Mark L. Boxer joined the Grange Mutual Casualty Company Board of Directors in 2013 and serves on the Compensation-HR, Corporate Governance and Executive Committees. Mark was appointed global chief information officer for Cigna in April 2011. Prior to Cigna, he served in various leadership roles at the Xerox Corporation, WellPoint and Hewlett Packard. Mark also serves on the board of the University of Connecticut Foundation and is a trustee of the Bushnell Performing Arts Center. Douglas P. Buth Director Douglas P. Buth joined the Board of Directors in 2008 and has chaired the Corporate Governance and Compensation-HR Committees. He currently serves on the Audit and Investment Committees. Douglas, a CPA, acts as a corporate consultant and director. Previously, he was chairman, CEO and president of Appleton Papers Inc. from 1998 until his retirement in 2005. Prior to joining Appleton Papers, he held a number of financial positions with Saks Fifth Avenue and BATUS. Terri J. Dalenta Director Terri J. Dalenta joined Grange Insurance in May 2016 as executive vice president, chief financial officer. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of property product management for Allstate Insurance, where she was responsible for the company’s $9 billion property portfolio. Prior to Allstate, Terri served as executive vice president and chief risk officer for Aviva North America and then served in the company’s London headquarters as risk framework director. Terri has also held senior positions with Deloitte Consulting, LLP, Safeco Insurance and Travelers Insurance. Michael D. Fraizer Director Michael D. Fraizer joined the board of Grange Mutual Casualty Company in 2016, and serves on the Audit and Compensation-HR Committees. Michael is an operating advisor of Blue Heron Capital. Previously, he held a number of senior positions with General Electric and GE Capital, before serving as chairman and CEO of Genworth Financial Inc., which went public from GE. Michael is also a board member of community service and nonprofit boards, such as Richmond Performing Arts Center, Virginia Commonwealth University and the Mary and Frances Youth Center. Robert E. Hoyt Director Dr. Robert E. Hoyt has served on the board of Grange Mutual Casualty Company since 2011. He currently serves as chair of the Audit Committee and serves on the Executive and Investment Committees. Robert is the Dudley L. Moore, Jr. Chair of Insurance and has been a faculty member at University of Georgia since 1988, where he is the department head for Insurance, Legal Studies and Real Estate. Robert also serves on the Board of Directors of the Journal of Insurance Regulation and on the editorial board of Risk Management and Insurance Review. He is a trustee of the Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education and a director of the Spencer Educational Foundation. Robert also serves as a vice president of the International Insurance Society. Suzan Kereere Director Suzan Kereere joined the Grange Mutual Casualty Company Board of Directors in 2018. Suzan is SVP, Europe Merchant and Acquiring and of Global Merchants Accounts for VISA, Inc. Prior to joining VISA in 2016, Suzan held numerous senior level positions with American Express, where she was employed from 1996 to 2016. Suzan holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from Tufts University. She serves on several non-profit boards, including the New York chapter of the American Red Cross and the Zawadi Africa Education Fund. M. Marnette Perry Director M. Marnette Perry has served on the Board of Directors since 2007 and has previously chaired the Investment Committee. She currently chairs the Corporate Governance Committee and serves on the Executive and Compensation-HR Committees. Marnette most recently served as senior vice president of The Kroger Company. In her 44 years with Kroger, she held numerous leadership positions. Marnette was appointed president of the Michigan division in 1997 and president of the Columbus division in 2001. She was then named group vice president of perishables and later senior vice president. Marnette is also on the board of trustees of Ohio University. Thomas S. Stewart Director Thomas S. Stewart joined Grange’s Board of Directors in 1993 and has previously served on the Investment and Audit Committees. He is currently the Compensation-HR Committee Chair and serves on the Corporate Governance and Executive Committees. He is a lecturer in the Human and Community Resource Development Department of The Ohio State University. Prior to teaching, Thomas was general manager and then vice president of WBNS-TV and served on the station’s Board of Directors. Thomas also serves on the boards of The Ohio Association of Broadcasters, The Community Shelter Board, The Upper Arlington Education Foundation and various committees and task forces of The United Way of Franklin County. Christianna Wood Director Christianna Wood joined Grange’s board in 2013 and has served on the Investment and Corporate Governance Committees. She is the current chair of the Investment Committee and serves on the Audit and Executive Committees. Christianna most recently served as chairperson of the board of governors of the International Corporate Governance Network. Previously, she was the CEO of Capital Z Asset Management and the senior investment officer for the Global Equity Unit of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). Christianna is a trustee of Vassar College, serves on its Investment, Audit, Budget and Finance Committees and is chairman of the Vassar College Trustee Investor Responsibility Committee. Additionally, Christianna is a member of the board of the Global Reporting Initiative and the International Integrated Reporting Council.
