Common questions about home insurance
Get quick answers to common homeowners insurance questions.
How much home insurance do I need?
It’s important to assess your home insurance needs and determine how much you can afford to pay out of pocket for costs your policy won’t cover. Your independent agent can walk you through this process and select the right coverage and discounts to meet your needs.
How does a home insurance deductible work?
Your home insurance deductible is the amount of money you pay out of pocket before your coverage kicks in.
For example: The roof of your home is damaged in a covered loss and you submit an insurance claim for $5,000 in repairs. If your deductible is $1,000, you pay that amount to the repair company and your insurance company pays the remaining $4,000.
Grange home insurance deductibles are paid on a per claim basis. If you have multiple claims in a year, you’ll be responsible for paying the deductible for each claim reported on your policy.

Why independent agents?
They work for you
Independent agents work for you to find the best coverage options from multiple insurance companies. Insurance agents who represent one carrier can only provide the best options from a single insurance provider.
Expert advice
Independent home insurance agents consider your needs to find the best coverage for you. Because they aren’t tied to a specific insurance company, they can provide more coverage options.
It’s easier to comparison shop
Unlike shopping for home insurance online, working with an independent agent puts an expert in your corner. You won’t have to wonder if you’re on the right track when you work with an independent agent because they make it easy to compare home policies from multiple carriers.
*Available coverages and discounts may vary by state. Please contact your Grange Independent Agent to discuss coverage details, discounts and eligibility requirements.
