Grange Insurance has been recognized by Columbus Business First as a 2016 Healthiest Employer of Central Ohio. In an award presentation at COSI on March 15, it was revealed that Grange placed 11th in the large companies category.

Now in its third year, the Healthiest Employers award program recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace. Using an online assessment, the award measures wellness programming in six categories: leadership commitment, communication and marketing, foundational components, programming and interventions, strategic planning and reporting and analysis.

“As we work toward becoming a high performing company, we recognize that our most important asset is our associates,” said Doreen DeLaney Crawley, EVP, human resources chief operations officer. “That’s why Grange offers programs that encompass not only physical health, but mind, body and financial wellness. We want our associates to be the best they can be—not only at work, but in their personal lives as well.”

Grange Insurance looks for new ways to keep its associates and their spouses engaged in ongoing health and wellness activities, using a mix of incentives and programming. The company promotes work-life balance through its policies, competitive benefits, wellness programs, community relations initiatives and associate engagement activities. Grange also offers associates a work flex policy and an ambassador volunteer program that gives associates additional paid time off for participation in community service.

Wellness programs include a free fitness center, free fitness classes and free consultations with an onsite dietician, nurse and fitness trainer. Grange also brings in a masseuse and reflexologist weekly.

Associate engagement activities include its annual employee appreciation day, volleyball tournament and a Red, White & Boom party on the rooftop.
