Support for South Carolina customers affected by Hurricane Matthew

Posted on October 12, 2016

In response to Hurricane Matthew, the South Carolina Department of Insurance (DOI) has issued Emergency Order No. 2016-EO-001, requesting insurance carriers to give policyholders who were directly impacted by the hurricane 60 days to pay insurance premiums before cancelling their policies for non-payment of premium. Currently, this impacts policyholders in the following counties: Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry and Jasper.

To ensure that these customers do not suffer any further hardship, Grange is implementing a freeze on cancellations due to nonpayment, applied retroactively from October 4, 2016, through December 7, 2016. Nonrenewals will remain in effect unless the insured requests coverage for the duration of the moratorium period.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact Grange Insurance at 1-800-422-0550.
